16 But we know that a person is not declared “righteous” by works of the
Jewish law, but through the faithfulness of Jesus the Messiah.
That is why we too believed in the Messiah, Jesus: so that we might be declared “righteous” on the basis of the Messiah’s
faithfulness, and not on the basis of works of the Jewish law. On that basis, you see, no creature will be declared “righteous.
I am, however, alive—but it isn’t me any longer, it’s the Messiah who lives in me. And the life I do still live in the
flesh, I live within the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
(Gal 2:20)
여기서 명사 피스티스 ("πίστις") 를 믿음이 아니고 성실함으로 번역할 수 있는 용기가 있는 번역자가 몇이나 되겠는가?
이 부분은 논란의 여지가 많으나, 성실함으로 번역해야하는 것이 많은 연구에서 적절하다가 결론을 내리지만.
우리가 그리스도의 성실함으로 구원을 얻는다는 것과 그리스도 안의 믿음으로 구원을 얻는 다는 것은
매우 다르게 해석되고 많은 성경에서는 그리스도를 믿는 믿음으로 번역하고 있다.
